On ‘Hei Fan’ or So-called ‘Black People’ Who Were
Foundin Coastland between Middle Ming and Earlier Qing
Abstract: Macao had been becoming the city where a lot of ‘Hei Fan’ or so-called ‘Black people’ resided since Portuguese came to the East between middle Ming and earlier Qing. Reviewing the history how the Lisbon’ court expanded its colony abroad and the status how the inhabitant both in eastern Africa and Irian island lived at that time, this article will put forward those viewpoints as follows: There were still ‘slave trades’ in Southeast Asia in later Middle Ages and not only the ‘Black people’ from east and south parts of Africa but also the ‘Brown people’ from the islands of Oceania among the ‘slaves’.
