摘 要：在中国原创文化的源头中，最重要的是“皇天无亲，惟德是辅”这一命题；它以“两个世界”的形式出现，勾画了中国哲学中天人关系的基本性质和特征。“德”字及其观念起于何时?只能以甲骨文、金文和《周书》为据，是周人之新观念。其原始义非“道德”、“德行”，而系全生、保全生命，引申为恩惠德泽；初为政治范畴，以后扩展为哲学性命范畴，与“性”为同类概念。“德”的文化政治与历史内涵对儒家人性论有极大影响，亦决定了老子之“道”不同于西方哲学逻各斯与总原理，而具有独特的中国哲学属性。

　　Abstract：The most essential proposition in the depths of the original Chinese culture is the idea that “the emperor's reign contains no relation but virtue.” The proposition occurs in form of “two worlds”，which sketches the essential character and distinctions of the relation between man and heaven in Chinese philosophy.Its primary meaning is neither “morality” or “virtue” but the existence itself and sustentation of life through it，extended to benefaction and reward for virtue.The proposition was initially political and then was stretched into a philosophic category，belonging to the same category as “nature”.“Virtue” with its cultural，political and historical connotation exerted enormous influence on Confucianist view of humanity and also determined the sense of “Tao” of Laozi which was characteristic individually of Chinese philosophy and different from logos or general principle of Western philosophy.

　　在中国原创文化的源头中，最典型和重要的莫过于“皇天无亲，惟德是辅”[1]《左传·僖公五年》这一命题；分析这一命题的意义、内涵及其发展和影响，很有助于了解中国原创文化与哲学思想的特点。之所以如此，是因为：1.它出现最早，是西周初年的思想。2.在西周初年文化的两个新观念“孝”与“德”中，“德”比“孝”居于更重要的地位。“孝”是个人道德观念的源头和核心，与祖宗崇拜相联系；“德”是国家政权建立的合法性基础，是政治思想的源头和核心，与天帝崇拜相联系；3.它是一次大的社会政治革命的经验总结，不仅反映了新的时代精神，也达到了哲学的高度。这一命题以“两个世
