摘要：明末清初随着《几何原本》等西方文献的汉译，在西方社会盛行了近两千年的公理化方法来到了中国。这种方法中国古代没有，且和近代科学的关系密切，本应受到国人的欢迎，并能尽快在科学研究中应用和传播。但事实却相反，公理化方法传入后一直被国人冷落，直到晚清。从当时的实际出发，我们认为这主要有三个原因：一、《几何原本》生涩难读；二、“西学中源”说轻视西方科学；三、公理化方法传来的时候本身不完整。正是这三个原因造成了当时公理化方法传播的停滞。

Abstract: In the late of Ming dynast and in the early of Qing dynast, much western scientific knowledge were introduced into China by missionaries, so the axiomatic method came to our country together. The axiomatic method really was useful to the development of modern science and technology, but then Chinese did not attach the importance on it. According the fact of then, we think there were three chief reasons. The first one is that the Chinese edition of Elements was very difficult to read, and the second one is the idea that all western knowledge originated from China belittle the axiomatic method, the third one is that no logic knowledge came with it then. These three reasons let the spread of axiomatic method stagnate for a long time.

一 引言

明末清初，随着大批西方传教士航海东来，大量的西方科技文献也传入到了中国，特别是数学和天文，传入的尤其多。由此，在西方社会盛行了多年，被当时的科学界奉为圭臬的专门用来系统地整理知识和研究知识的公理化方法也来到了中国。这种方法中国古代没有，其简便性、实用性和逻辑性为国人前所未闻，其在应用的过程中体现出来的条理性和严谨性等特点也很好的弥补了我国古代科学研究方法的不足。所以，这种方法传入之后，本应受到极大的欢迎，并很快应用到我们的科学研究中去才对，但是，事实并非如此。公理化方法自从传入之后，大约二百年的时间里，人们对其研究和应用很少，就是知道的也并不多，以至于其默默无闻了很久。为什么呢？关于这个问题的研究，显然有助于我们理解当时西方科学技术在我国的传播，对于弄清楚当时中西文化交流的很多问题具有重要的作用。另外，关于此问题，就目力所及尚无人深入研究，故本文拟就这个问题作一探讨，以求教于各位专家。
